The winners of Australia's premier design awards were announced at the 61st annual Good Design Awards Ceremony in Sydney. After taking out the Good Design Award ‘Best in Class’ accolade in the Product Design category, the Inventia Rastrum 3D Bioprinter went one better by taking out Australia’s top design honour — 2019 Good Design Award of the Year.

Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “What’s incredible about this machine is that in addition to the fact that the technology is a game-changer in the way cancer will be treated, it’s also a beautiful piece of industrial design that doesn’t actually look like medical equipment.”

“We’ve printed plastics and metals before, but to 3D-print human cell structures is pretty amazing stuff,” says Murray Hunter, founder of D+I.

The Good Design Awards Jury had high praise for the Rastrum commenting: “The Rastrum 3D Bioprinter is helping to cure cancer. It provides a fast way to build 3D cell structures which are then used to test a range of therapies. The impact of this on patient experience is potentially life changing.”

Congratulations to the team at Inventia Life Science.
