Biorithm Femom fetal monitor
Gathering essential maternal and fetal physiological data to monitor the health of mother and baby for at risk pregnancy.
Femom is designed to capture essential maternal and fetal bio-signals to determine the health of the mother and baby in a clinical and home setting. The Femom fetal monitor leverages on Non-Invasive Fetal Electrocardiogram (NIFECG) and Electrohysterography (EHG) monitoring. Femom helps clinicians to identify early signs of risks before they become emergencies, working to ensure a safer and smoother journey for mother and baby.
Femom aims to provide greater convenience for expecting mothers and better data resolution on babies well-being given the frequency of monitoring and in-depth data analysis. The wearable device sends data to the Femom companion smartphone application, recording a session in confidence via the app, thus keeping the mother calm without unnecessary duress. The monitoring session data is then sent to the assigned obstetrician for clinical review.
Advancing Fetal monitoring technology.
Fetal monitoring via CTG has remained largely unchanged since its invention in the 1960s and currently requires in-person visits to the Hospital.
Fetal heart rate monitoring is currently performed in healthcare provider environments (i.e. Hospitals) via cardiotocography (CTG) technology. Fetal monitoring via CTG has remained largely unchanged since its invention in the 1960s. The key challenge was to provide mothers and obstetricians with a simple home monitoring wearable device that would provide peace of mind (for mothers), repeatable and reliable medical data collected by the mothers themselves, and timely support for at-risk pregnancy (results interpreted by obstetricians/midwives remotely).
High risk conditions affect roughly 20% of pregnancies worldwide, approximately 33 million women with these numbers growing yearly. Pregnancy risks are increased by chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and the fact that more women are choosing to give birth later in life. High risk pregnancies present an increased chance of preterm and/or stillbirth, with the journey marked by endless visits to hospitals, undergoing multiple repeated tests and scans. In many cases, this requires the mother to visit the hospital multiple times per week, a major disruption to everyday life. In some cases, such as living rurally, long distance travel is required to receive this care, costing time and money. This can sometimes lead to an anxious and tiring maternity experience for many mothers.

Femom is a prescribed obstetrics solution consisting of a wearable monitoring device containing an electrode sensor array that senses electrophysiological signals from the mother and baby. Femom provides monitoring of the maternal heart rate, fetal heart rate, and uterine activity in the antepartum periods.
