Honeywell Experion Orion Console
The Honeywell Experion® Orion Console represents the control room of the future. Honeywell selected D+I to develop a console that could reduce fatigue in users, offer mobile capabilities, and present information more intuitively. In developing the console, D+I combined a large, flexible, ultra-high-definition display with a user-friendly mobile touch panel into an ergonomic design that enables more responsive management. When paired with wireless-enabled mobile technologies, the system also allows operators to view the same displays on hand-held devices in other areas of the plant.
A new generation human interface.
The Experion® Orion console features an improved ergonomic design and better displays to simplify control system management, reduce operator fatigue and improve situational awareness. The robust design has been engineered to handle 24/7 use in ruggedised environments. Operators can be at a console for an intensive 12 hour shift, and the console has automated ‘sit and stand’ positions, allowing the operator the flexibility to customise their working position to suit their needs.
The modular design approach allows the Experion® Orion Console to adapt to different control room layouts — from a single console through to multi-operator configurations. Easy hardware access and cable management through modular, removable panels and hatches allows for real-time servicing and rapid repair.
Listening to users.
Experion® Orion Console’s design was based on operator inputs gleaned from visits to plant control rooms around the world and across industries, in both new and old plants. The design and capabilities are the result of behaviour observations, as well as insights collected at plants during different phases, including process start-ups and periods of abnormal operations.
