Joint Function Assessment System
Joint function assessment is fraught with complications and, due to its reliance on subjective methods, is easily manipulated by patients — often leading to inaccurate results.
The Joint Function Assessment System (JFAS) is the first device to successfully address these issues. Developed by D+I for Joint Dynamics, the JFAS can accurately measure the amount of effort a person is applying. It’s so accurate that, in an independent clinical trial, JFAS could predict when a person was using maximal effort with 100% accuracy.
Interactive and flexible.
The JFAS incorporates adjustable support devices with positioning calibration to ensure patient posture and position is maintained for every test appointment. The finely-tuned but robust arm mechanism (pictured above) allows for adjustments to all sizes of patients with calibration and measurement points to ensure the repeatability of tests.
LED strip lighting around the face of the cabinet provides feedback and colour cues for patients undertaking joint assessment, while dual, 32-inch touch interfaces allow practitioners to interact with patient data and records.
Designed for quick assembly and disassembly to allow easy transport and installation, all the components of the JFAS are able to fit through a standard door. The innovative, irregular hexagon-shaped base has been engineered so the machine keeps its overall rigidity without having to be bolted to the ground.
