The Captis S2 Pulse is an advanced remote monitoring device designed for ultimate durability and operational longevity. It features a revolutionary, field-replaceable battery system, catering to utilities and critical infrastructure sectors in need of reliable, long-term environmental monitoring solutions in extreme conditions. Traditional devices struggle with durability, battery life, and complex maintenance, especially in water utilities, mining, and agriculture.
Smart Device Design + Development: Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering
The challenge was to develop a next-generation device capable of reliably monitoring & managing critical data in extreme remote environments, with enhanced usability feature sets, and distinctive product design language. The device needed to offer a minimum 10-year field and battery life, quick in-field battery swap, be virtually indestructible with military-grade ruggedness, operate in -40°C to +75°C temperatures, withstand 100% humidity, have an IP68 rating, support advanced connectivity options + reduce cloud dependency through edge computing.

Captis S2 Pulse meets the demands of extreme conditions by addressing a key challenge with world-first, patent-pending battery technology, offering a minimum 10-year battery and field life with quick in-field swaps (easy twist and lock replacements in under 30 seconds). Its military-grade ruggedness, durable heavy-duty plastics, and IP68 rating (no visible seals and capable of withstanding depths of up to 5 metres) work to give Captis S2 Pulse the ability to operate in extreme temperatures and humidity, ensuring reliable, uninterrupted global coverage and performance in extreme environments.
The device features dual SIM and eSIM technology for uninterrupted connectivity, advanced edge and AI on-device data processing to reduce cloud computing dependencies, best-in-class security (ECC, PKC, X.509 certs), paired with automated sensor recognition features leading to streamlined set-up and error-free configuration through Kallipr’s Smart Sensor Cable technology.
