Medtech's Got Talent Gala Finals
Medtech’s Got Talent Gala Finals
Both teams mentored by D+I chosen in the top five.
In November 2017 some of Australia’s brightest MedTech entrepreneurs battled it out at the MedTech’s Got Talent National Finals event in Melbourne. Presenting a perfect three-minute pitch in front of an audience of over 200 VIP industry guests from across the startup ecosystem is no easy task. Thirteen startup teams from the 2017 MedTech’s Got Talent program rose to the challenge, showcasing their hard work and passion with grace and humour.
D+I have mentored two teams in the competition, and we’re proud to say that both teams were chosen in the top five. The top five teams secured $20,000 funding to kick-start their MedTech startup, and will now participate in an intensive six-week accelerator program. The team judged to be ‘most invest-able’ will take out the competition and receive an additional $40,000.
Congratulations to Tania Willett and Murray McDonald from MUVi who presented ‘UV Sterilisation of Hospital Equipment’ and Wei Sue, Alex Newton, Mubin Yousuf, Shing Sheung, Brad Bergmann and Christiane Theda from Navi Medical Technologies who presented ‘Improving Successful Placement of Catheters’.
Navi Medical Technologies also took out the $1,000 people’s choice award on the night for their system to improve the successful placement of catheters in critically-ill infants.
Wei Sue, NAVi Co-Founder, was thrilled with the win, and grateful for those that had helped NAVi over the past few months: “Receiving the EY Award at the Medtech's Got Talent 2017 Gala Night is a huge validation of the progress we've made in the last few months. Thanks to our mentors at D+I, University of Melbourne and Melbourne Business School, as well as the overwhelming support we've received from others in the community.”
