D+I was tasked with the challenge of creating a versatile and space-efficient camp kitchen setup for vehicle-based adventurers. The brief demanded innovative solutions to enhance portability, functionality, and durability while addressing the concerns of campers seeking a more premium user-friendly range for adventures on the road. The Detour range revolves around a thoughtfully considered design system that prioritises functionality, usability, and operability. All products benefit from this approach with shared product dimensions, proportions, premium materials, finishes, and profiles that make it easy mix and match products within the range. The range introduces several novel features to enhance the experience — to achieve space-saving efficiency, collapsible structures were redefined to enable easy storage, whilst lid-keeps and grips were incorporated to ensure rattle-free silence during transportation. The cookware and kettle products feature a three-ply base that ensures even heat distribution and compatibility with both gas and induction cooktops. The Click-Safe removable handle enhances usability, ensuring secure handling during use, and can be locked into the opposite position for hassle-free storage. High-quality stainless steel and silicone materials guarantee durability, longevity, and resistance to rust, corrosion, and staining, whilst also contributing to a sleek modern aesthetic that balances functionality and comfort.
